The Tutorial List
Similar to what is described here it focuses you on a small subset of features that can be completed within a single release cycle (of 2-4 weeks), at the end of each cycle you should have a functioning programme.
You can then use that to solicit feed back, or motivate more work, it may even highlight new areas that you hadnt originally considered.
It also helps you get over the trimming phobia....your almost certainly not going to be able to pack all of your must have features into your first cycle...if you do then your first cycle is too long. At the end of each cycle you can assess if what you have is ready for a production release...you may surprise yourself and be willing to release something before all of the features you thought were originally must haves are available.
